Old made new…
The year was 1976. Istanbul, Turkey. Deep in the heart of the Grand Bazaar sat a small shop that sold traditional hookahs to tourists and local purists. Manning the shop was a young apprentice who diligently mopped the floors and shined the pipes so that they may attract the wandering eye of a potential buyer. Late one night when nary a soul was to be seen, the young apprentice was about to close up shop. Just then a blinding light poured in from the columns of a nearby portico. The young apprentice, a brave boy, ran towards the intrusion and was met buy a three-foot alien exiting his saucer-like spacecraft.
The boy was raised right and taught to be a good host. He ran back into the shop and grabbed a traditional hookah as an offering to his new intergalactic visitor. Just as quick as he came the alien took the hookah, hopped back into his U.F.O. and left.
Present day, Istanbul, Turkey. On a day much like that auspicious day, the alien returned. The boy, now a man, was now owner of the shop. He never forgot about that experience or his alien visitor. This time it was th visitor who brought a gift; that same hookah except it had been enhanced and modified back on the alien’s home planet. It took that whole time to perfect.
The alien handed back over this ceramic hookah with granulated cork and a sleek modern design from Studio Lorier. The man gazed at it with wonder and tested it out on the spot. He couldn’t believe that this three footed traveler from another galaxy had improved upon an age old smoking staple. He thanked his alien friend and ran back into the shop to place it in the window, in a place of honor. When he came back out to thank him the alien had vanished once more.
